Mr Yaw Sarpong

Yaw Sarpong is the Company Secretary and a member of the Board of Directors of EcoInformatics. He has about 15 years of ICT experience in a mix of network infrastructure planning and design, project management and coordination and project planning and implementation. He also possesses a very good working knowledge of satellite systems, Wi-Fi, wireless systems, etc.

Since 2001, he has been an ICT consultant and a Director at IntellSol Technologies where he has been engaged with executives and management teams of a number of public and private organizations in Ghana to develop strategic ICT Technology Plans. These include policies and procedures to guide the organizations in their technology investments and deployment plans. The projects include the Government of Ghana Wide Area Network (GovNet), the Ghana-India ICT Center of Excellence converged voice, data and video-conferencing network to link all Community Information Centers and the Ghana Post nationwide network infrastructure reengineering and design.

From February 1998 to October 2001, Yaw held the position of Senior Network Engineer at ATT in the U.S. There, he managed projects and networks relating to the ATT Local Services ATM- and SONET-based infrastructure; coordinated and provided consultative support on design, implementation and management to the technical personnel in remote cities; provided third-tier technical support; and supervised and coordinated the installation, testing, provisioning and management of the network elements of the WAN infrastructure.

Prior to that, Yaw worked as an independent consultant to a number of high technology companies. Assignments involved project management, network and systems design, configuration and installation, troubleshooting and software development. Notable clients included ATT where he served as a Systems Integration Engineer and a Systems Support Engineer, Lockheed-Martin where he was a Network Engineer and the U.S. Department of Transportation where he was in Network Administration.

His professional career started in 1992 in Germany where he worked with Vox Film-und Femseh GmbH & Co. as a Satellite and Projects Engineer and later with HUK Labor where he served as an ICT Manager.

Yaw has developed strong coordination, analytical, organizational, and inter-personal communication skills and an exceptional aptitude for innovative thinking with the ability to translate new business concepts, processes and needs into technical solutions and running operations. By providing strong leadership, team and consensus building, problem-solving and planning he has consistently recruited, developed, motivated and retained diverse staff and structured them into teams that perform and deliver results.

Yaw was educated at the University of Siegen in Germany where he earned the BS and MSEE degrees in Electrical Engineering and is fluent in oral and written German. He is a member of IEEE.
